THE COURAGE TO BEGIN
Updated: Oct 10
Every meaningful path begins with a single step.
We often wait for certainty before we begin.
We wait for the perfect plan, the right moment, enough money, more confidence, more time, or some unmistakable sign telling us that we are ready.
But perhaps readiness does not come before the beginning.
Perhaps it is created because we begin.
There is a particular kind of courage required to move toward something we cannot fully see yet.
To trust the quiet voice within.
To take the first step even when the entire path has not revealed itself.
Sometimes the beginning is not dramatic.
It may be sending the message.
Opening the notebook.
Making the phone call.
Applying for the opportunity.
Returning to the practice.
Saying yes.
Or finally saying no.
The first step may look very small from the outside, but inside, it can represent a profound declaration:
I trust what I feel called to follow.
We do not need to know exactly where the path will lead.
We only need enough trust to take the next step.
This week, ask yourself:
What have I been waiting to feel ready for?
And:
What is one small step I can take toward it today?
A simple practice:
Choose one thing you have been postponing.
Do not try to complete the entire journey.
Simply begin.
Take one honest, courageous step.
Then pause.
Notice what opens.
Sometimes the path reveals itself only after we begin walking.
Until next week, may you continue walking your path with presence and love.
